Greetings Mortals,
As part of our ongoing experiment with rotating game modes, we're introducing the next format on the docket - Pauper Mode!
For those unfamiliar with the legacy of Pauper modes in TCGs, it's a mode where only common and rare cards are allowed, making deck building more accessible and placing the focus on player skill and strategy.
This approach has been used in various trading card games, including Pokémon TCG and Magic: The Gathering Arena.
Our goal is to liven up the game meta and continually enhance your player experience. We're experimenting with different game modes that have unique rulesets and conditions, allowing us to gauge which modes resonate most with you.
What is Pauper Mode?
Pauper Mode is all about accessibility, leveling the playing field and putting skill front and center.
Pauper is a constructed mode where you can only build your decks out of common and rare cards. (all other regular deckbuilding restrictions apply)
Pauper Mode offers a refreshing change of pace, where playing without breaking the bank is possible and learning to create synergistic decks is the name of the game.
Here's why you should try out Pauper Mode
Accessible from the get-go
Use common and rare cards from throughout the history of Gods Unchained. The sets included are from the Eternal/Standard format, making this an accessible and skill-intensive experience
Skill front and center
In Pauper, skill truly shines through, as there are no advantages with rare or expensive cards, leveling the playing field for all participants
Learn new synergies and combos
It's a fantastic place to understand combos and synergistic decks, focusing fully on strategic gameplay
We'll be testing this mode for two weeks. Based on your feedback, it could potentially become a permanent ranked mode in the future.
So, dive into Pauper Mode, and let your skill do the talking. We can't wait to hear what you think!
